The brief

Bluewave doesn't sell rooms: it sells the work of choosing well among twenty-odd resorts that look alike from the outside. And its customer isn't searching for «travel agency». They're searching for «what is the Royal Barbados like» or «Sandals or Beaches for a honeymoon», months before booking and while they're still deciding. The site had to show up in that conversation, not the one after it.

What was built

  • Complete site, delivered and live
  • 15 resort reviews, each with a page of its own
  • 14 guides and comparisons for people still choosing
  • Google Business Profile set up
  • Measurement with Google Analytics 4

The decisions

Anyone can list what they delivered. What a client can't judge on their own is whether it was decided well, so here's what was decided and why.

One page per resort, not a catalogue

Each resort has its own address, with its full review. Someone searching for one in particular lands straight on that page, not on a list where they still have to search. It's the difference between being on the site and being found.

The page arrives written, not assembled

Sites built with this technology usually send the browser an empty page that fills itself in afterwards. Here every page is written in full before it's published, so Google gets the whole text at once, and so does a visitor on a weak connection.

Google gets told when there's something new

Instead of waiting for it to come by —which can take weeks— the site pings the search engines every time a guide goes up. A new review can start showing the same day.

The review date, in plain sight

A hotel review with no date doesn't say whether it's from this year or five years ago, and someone about to spend their holiday money notices. Every guide shows when it was last checked.

Measurement

Analytics is measuring contacts and where they come from. When there's a full quarter, the numbers go on this page. We don't publish figures we can't show.
